Book Colin Stetson
Colin Stetson is an American saxophonist, multi-reedist and composer based in Montreal, renowned for solo performances that sound like an entire ensemble. Using circular breathing, multiphonics, altissimo, microtones, vocalizations through the reed and percussive key clicks, he turns bass and alto saxophone into towering, hypnotic soundscapes. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he studied at the University of Michigan on a full scholarship and became a sought-after collaborator with Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Tom Waits, TV on the Radio, Feist, Bell Orchestre and Ex Eye. He has won two Grammy Awards from three nominations, including Best Alternative Music Album through his work with Bon Iver. His solo trilogy began with New History Warfare, Volume 1 (2008), followed by Volume 2: Judges (2011) and Volume 3: To See More Light (2013). He partnered with violinist Sarah Neufeld on Never Were the Way She Was (2015) and released Sorrow: A Reimagining of Gorecki’s 3rd Symphony (2016) and All This I Do for Glory (2017). Since 2013 he has scored film and television, most famously the horror film Hereditary. Live, Stetson delivers breathtaking, physically astonishing performances.
