Book Chi-Lites
The Chi-Lites are a Chicago R&B and soul vocal group whose sweet, falsetto-led harmonies defined an era of romantic soul. The group came together at Hyde Park High School in 1959, worked under names including the Hi-Lites and Marshall & the Chi-Lites, and reached its peak with the classic lineup of Eugene Record, Creadel Jones, Robert Lester and Marshall Thompson. Between 1969 and 1974 they placed eleven singles in the R&B top ten, and over their career they charted 21 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, with hits reaching audiences in Canada, Australia and Ireland as well. Their album run includes Give It Away (1969), I Like Your Lovin’ (Do You Like Mine) (1970), (For God’s Sake) Give More Power to the People (1971), A Lonely Man (1972), A Letter to Myself (1973), Toby (1974) and Half a Love (1975). Later records such as Heavenly Body (1980), Me and You (1981), Bottom’s Up (1983), Steppin’ Out (1984), Help Wanted (1997) and Low Key (2005) kept the sound alive. Onstage, the Chi-Lites bring silky harmonies, classic choreography and a catalog of slow-dance soul favorites.
