Book Carly Smithson

Carly Smithson is an Irish singer, rooted in soul and pop rock, whose powerhouse voice carried her to sixth place on the seventh season of American Idol in 2008. Born Carly Hennessy, she had already released a debut studio album, Ultimate High, on MCA Records in 2001, an upbeat pop collection that included her take on Danielle Brisebois' "Just Missed the Train," a song Kelly Clarkson later covered as well. Following her run on Idol, Universal Music reissued Ultimate High to physical and digital retailers, introducing it to a new audience of fans. In early 2009 Smithson was introduced to former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody, and rather than pursue a solo record she took the frontwoman role in We Are the Fallen, trading pop polish for dramatic, guitar-driven hard rock. She also sings with The Tribe, a rotating collective of Los Angeles musicians and vocalists whose ranks include Stephen John Kalinich, Freebo, Grant Geissman, Rosemary Butler and The Honeys. Comfortable moving between soulful ballads, pop hooks and soaring rock anthems, Smithson brings a big, emotional voice and the poise of a seasoned television performer to any stage.
