Book Brian McBride
Brian McBride is an American former forward who ranks sixth on the all-time scoring list for the United States men's national team and became a cult hero in English soccer. Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, he led Buffalo Grove High School to the Illinois state title in 1988, was named a Parade All-American, and starred at Saint Louis University, graduating in 1993. He played in Germany with VfL Wolfsburg and for the Milwaukee Rampage in 1994 before becoming a cornerstone of the Columbus Crew from 1996. He also had spells in England with Preston North End in 2000 and Everton in 2003 before joining Fulham in 2004. At Craven Cottage he became a fan favorite and club captain and was twice voted Player of the Season, and after he left the club renamed the stadium sports bar McBride's in his honor. He returned home to finish his club career with the Chicago Fire in 2008, the same year he captained the U.S. under-23 side as an overage player. His international career began in 1993.
