Big Freedia is a New Orleans rapper, singer and performer widely credited with bringing the city's high-energy bounce music to a worldwide audience. She launched her professional career in 1999 with the single "An Ha, Oh Yeah" and became a fixture in New Orleans clubs, building a catalog that includes Queen Diva and Big Freedia Hitz Vol. 1. In 2011 OffBeat's Best of the Beat Awards gave her two honors, Best Emerging Artist plus top Hip-Hop/Rap Artist. She starred in her own reality series on Fuse beginning in 2013, released her major-label debut Just Be Free in 2014, and published her autobiography, God Save the Queen Diva!, in 2015. Later releases include A Very Big Freedia Christmazz, the EP Third Ward Bounce, Central City in 2023 and Pressing Onward in 2025. Her voice is heard on Beyoncé's "Formation" and the chart-topping "Break My Soul," as well as Drake's number-one hit "Nice for What," and she has teamed with Lizzo, Kesha, RuPaul, Charli XCX and Boyz II Men.
