Book Ben Harper

Ben Harper has won three Grammy Awards from eight nominations, each in a different corner of American music: Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "11th Commandment," Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album for There Will Be a Light with the Blind Boys of Alabama, and Best Blues Album for Get Up!, his collaboration with harmonica great Charlie Musselwhite. The California multi-instrumentalist played his first gig at 12 and became a master of the Weissenborn lap slide guitar. Taj Mahal invited him to tour and record on Follow the Drinking Gourd before Harper launched his own career with Pleasure and Pain and Welcome to the Cruel World. Albums such as Fight for Your Mind, The Will to Live, Diamonds on the Inside and Both Sides of the Gun, many made with his band the Innocent Criminals, mixed blues, folk, soul, reggae and rock into a sound all his own. His second record with Musselwhite, No Mercy in This Land, produced a Blues Music Award for Song of the Year. Recent releases include the solo lap steel album Winter Is for Lovers (2020), Bloodline Maintenance (2022) and Wide Open Light (2023), and he continues to tour internationally.
