In 2019 he moved to Hammarby IF in Sweden's Allsvenskan. Once an Iceland under-21 international, he chose the United States and made his senior debut in 2013, then represented the U.S. at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, where the team finished fourth.
