Book Antonio Sánchez

Antonio Sánchez is a Mexican-American jazz drummer and composer acclaimed for his long tenure with guitarist Pat Metheny and for his groundbreaking drum score for the 2014 film Birdman. That score won him a Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, the Critics' Choice Movie Award and the Satellite Award, along with Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations. While still a conservatory student in 1997 he joined Dizzy Gillespie's United Nations Orchestra as its drummer on the recommendation of Danilo Pérez, then toured with Pérez's trio and played on the Grammy-nominated Motherland. Metheny soon invited him into the Pat Metheny Group, whose Speaking of Now won the 2003 Grammy for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, followed by The Way Up (2005), the trio record Day Trip (2008) with Christian McBride, and Unity Band (2012). As a leader he debuted with Migration (2007) and has since released New Life (2013), Three Times Three (2014), The Meridian Suite (2015), Bad Hombre (2017), Lines in the Sand (2018), Trio Grande (2020), BEATrio (2025) and Elipsis (2026). He is a dazzling, explosive presence behind the kit.
