Aida Turturro is an American actress, born in 1962, whose career covers close to four decades across film, television and the stage. She is best known for playing the volatile Janice Soprano on HBO's The Sopranos, appearing in 72 episodes across six seasons between 2000 and 2007. The role brought her two Emmy nominations, in 2001 and in 2007, and she shared the 2008 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series with the cast, following several earlier ensemble nominations. Her screen work began with the 1989 comedy True Love, followed by parts in What About Bob?, Junior (1994) and Jersey Girl. On Broadway she debuted in a 1992 production of A Streetcar Named Desire, playing Eunice Hubbell, and later played Mama Morton in Chicago. On television she has recurred as Judge Felicia Catano on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and appeared on The Blacklist, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Nurse Jackie, Blue Bloods and Curb Your Enthusiasm. With a sharp comic edge, she brings candid, funny stories from one of television's most celebrated dramas to conversations and appearances.
