Book Acoustic Alchemy
Acoustic Alchemy is an English smooth jazz band built around the interplay of two acoustic guitars, one nylon string and one steel string. Nick Webb and Simon James founded the group in the early 1980s, and Greg Carmichael took over from James in 1985, when the new pairing even entertained passengers on Virgin Atlantic flights to the United States. Signed to MCA, they released Red Dust and Spanish Lace (1987), Natural Elements (1988), whose title track became the theme for the BBC programme Gardeners' World, and Blue Chip (1989). A move to GRP brought Reference Point (1990), with a cover of Dave Brubeck's "Take Five," and Back on the Case (1991), plus The New Edge (1993), Against the Grain (1994) and Arcanum (1996). Later albums include Positive Thinking... (1998), The Beautiful Game (2000), AArt (2001), Radio Contact (2003), American/English (2005), This Way (2007), Roseland (2011) and 33⅓ (2018). The band has earned three Grammy nominations. Acoustic Alchemy brings warm, melodic guitar-led jazz, flamenco and Latin colors to concert halls and jazz festivals.
