Wyclef Jean is a Haitian rapper, singer, songwriter and producer who first rose to fame as a founding member of the Fugees, whose second album The Score (1996) became a global phenomenon. His solo debut The Carnival (1997) brought "Gone till November" and "Guantanamera" with Celia Cruz and Lauryn Hill, followed by The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II a Book (2000), Masquerade (2002) and Carnival, Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant (2007). He featured on Shakira's worldwide smash "Hips Don't Lie" and co-wrote or produced landmark songs for others, including Santana's "Maria Maria" and Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love". He has won three Grammy Awards from ten nominations: Best Rap Album for The Score, a vocal group award for "Killing Me Softly With His Song", and Album of the Year for his work on Supernatural. He also earned a Golden Globe nomination for "Million Voices" from Hotel Rwanda, recorded the 2014 FIFA World Cup anthem "Dar um Jeito (We Will Find a Way)", and entered the New Jersey Hall of Fame. On stage he is a restless showman and multi-instrumentalist, weaving Fugees classics, Haitian rhythms and his own hits into a freewheeling, high-spirited set.
