Book Tokyo Police Club
Tokyo Police Club were the Canadian indie rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, known for short, punchy songs packed with hooks. Founded in 2005, the band brought together Dave Monks on vocals and bass, Josh Hook on guitar, Greg Alsop on drums and Graham Wright on keys, who had played music together since high school. Their 2006 debut EP, A Lesson in Crime, quickly made waves on music blogs, with songs such as "Nature of the Experiment" and "Cheer It On" drawing attention from critics and fans across North America. The debut full-length album, Elephant Shell (2008), featured "Tessellate" and "In a Cave," and Champ (2010) brought a fuller sound with "Breakneck Speed" and "Wait Up (Boots of Danger)." They were twice nominated for the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year, including for Champ in 2011. During the 2010s they released Forcefield (2014), the two-part Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness (2016) and TPC (2018), plus the covers project Ten Songs, Ten Years, Ten Days. The band played its farewell shows in 2024 after close to twenty years of energetic, crowd-pleasing performances.
