Book The Pointer Sisters
The Pointer Sisters are a female vocal group from Oakland, California, who rose to mainstream success in the 1970s and 1980s and sold around forty million records. The act began in 1969 when sisters June and Bonnie Pointer started singing in clubs as Pointers Au Pair, and it became a trio once Anita joined. Their repertoire crosses many genres, and they landed thirteen American top-20 hits between 1973 and 1987. They have won three Grammy Awards, including a 1974 country vocal performance prize for a duo or group and a 1984 prize for vocal arrangement for two or more voices. They also earned American Music Awards for Video of the Year in 1985 and 1986 and for Favorite Soul/R&B Band, Duo or Group in 1985, and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star followed in 1994. The Pointer Sisters offer tight harmonies, a crossover catalog and a polished stage show.
