Book The Orb
The Orb is an English electronic group created in London in 1988 by DJs Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty. It started as an ambient and dub DJ project, drawing on 1970s electronic pioneers such as Brian Eno, Cluster and Kraftwerk, and helped define the ambient house movement with its 1991 debut The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld. U.F.Orb followed in 1992, and the catalog since then runs through Orbus Terrarum, Orblivion, Cydonia, Metallic Spheres, Prism in 2023 and Buddhist Hipsters in 2025, nineteen studio albums in all. Known for psychedelic soundscapes, dub bass and sampled voices, the group became a favorite among clubbers who wanted music for the comedown. Paterson remains the guiding force, and The Orb's live performances turn long, evolving electronic pieces into immersive audiovisual shows for festivals and club stages.
