Book The Marshall Tucker Band
The Marshall Tucker Band comes from Spartanburg, South Carolina, and is known for an eclectic sound that blends blues, country, rock and jazz and for helping to establish Southern rock in the early 1970s. The original line-up, formed in 1972, featured Toy Caldwell on lead guitar, vocals and songwriting, Doug Gray on lead vocals, Jerry Eubanks on keyboards, saxophone and flute, George McCorkle on rhythm guitar, Paul Riddle on drums and Tommy Caldwell on bass. Its members had played in Spartanburg-area groups since the early 1960s, including the Toy Factory. The band signed with Capricorn Records and released The Marshall Tucker Band in 1973, then A New Life and Where We All Belong in 1974, Searchin' for a Rainbow in 1975, Long Hard Ride in 1976, Carolina Dreams in 1977 and Running Like the Wind in 1979. Later records include Still Holdin' On in 1988, Southern Spirit in 1990, Still Smokin' in 1992, Face Down in the Blues in 1998, Beyond the Horizon in 2004 and The Next Adventure in 2007, twenty-two albums in all. The band has played on through changing line-ups. Long jams and Southern groove fuel the live show.
