Book Tab Ramos

Tab Ramos is a soccer coach and former midfielder who became a cornerstone of the United States national team. Born in Uruguay, where his father played professionally, he moved with his family to New Jersey at age 11 and became an U.S. citizen in 1982. At Saint Benedict's Preparatory School he was a two-time high school All-American and the 1983 Parade Magazine National High School Player of the Year, and he still holds New Jersey's boys' career scoring record with 161 goals. After starring at NC State, he enjoyed a thirteen-year professional career in Spain, Mexico and the United States, playing for UE Figueres, Real Betis and Tigres UANL. When Major League Soccer formed, Ramos became the very first player to sign with the league, and he spent his final seven seasons with the MetroStars, the club known today as the New York Red Bulls. He played in three World Cups for the United States, also represented the national futsal team, and in 2005 entered the National Soccer Hall of Fame alongside longtime teammate John Harkes. Ramos brings a pioneer's view of American soccer's rise.
