Book Stomp
Stomp is the internationally celebrated percussion and physical theatre show that turns everyday objects into instruments. Created in Brighton, England, in 1991 by Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell, it fuses rhythm, acrobatics and pantomime into a wordless, high-energy spectacle where ordinary household and street objects become drums. Its creators had been collaborating since 1981, first as bandmates in Pookiesnackenburger and as members of the theatre company Cliff Hanger, staging comedy musicals at the Edinburgh Festival and producing a famous dustbin-lid commercial for Heineken. Cresswell went on to direct ambitious outdoor percussion events, including Beat the Clyde, which floated a drum orchestra on a pontoon in Glasgow. Those experiments grew into Stomp, which has since become a fixture of stages around the world. The show needs no translation: its blend of sharp choreography, humor and pounding rhythm connects with audiences of every age and language, making it a thrilling, visually striking live experience with a large ensemble cast of percussionists and movers.
