Book Spinal Tap
Spinal Tap is the legendary parody heavy metal band dreamed up by the comic trio of Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer, who appear as singer David St. Hubbins, lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel and bassist Derek Smalls. Billed as one of England's loudest bands, the group debuted in a 1979 sketch for the ABC pilot The T.V. Show with Rob Reiner, a mock promo for "Rock and Roll Nightmare." They became icons with the 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, a cornerstone of comedy filmmaking, and returned in the 2025 sequel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. The band has released four albums: the This Is Spinal Tap soundtrack (1984), Break Like the Wind (1992), Back from the Dead (2009) and The End Continues (2025), and has earned a Grammy nomination. Performing fully in character, they toured the United States in 2009, played the Glastonbury Festival and staged their "One Night Only World Tour" at London's Wembley Arena days later. The trio sometimes opens their own shows as the folk group the Folksmen. Spinal Tap delivers real rock musicianship wrapped in brilliant comedy.
