Soul II Soul is a collective from London, started in 1988 around the producer and DJ Jazzie B and Nellee Hooper, who became a major producer. The group grew out of a sound system and club scene, and the sound was an influential blend of dance beats, R&B, soul and hip-hop that shaped the sound of the early 1990s. They are best known for two hits from 1989: "Keep On Movin'," which reached number eleven on the American chart, and "Back to Life," a number four American hit with vocals by Caron Wheeler. Soul II Soul won two Grammys in 1990, and also took home several Soul Train Music Awards. Their albums include Club Classics Vol. One in 1989 and Vol. II: 1990 – A New Decade in 1990. Live shows feature a collective of vocalists and musicians playing laid-back, danceable grooves that are full of joy.
