Book Slint
Slint came out of Louisville, Kentucky, in 1986, formed by guitarist and singer Brian McMahan, guitarist David Pajo, drummer Britt Walford and bassist Ethan Buckler, all of whom had come from local bands such as Squirrel Bait. The group released its debut Tweez in 1989 and then Spiderland in 1991, an album built on spoken vocals, shifting time signatures and dramatic dynamics, with tracks such as "Washer" and "Good Morning, Captain." The band split soon after its release, yet the record's reputation grew until it became a touchstone of post-rock and indie music. Slint reunited in 2005 and performed Spiderland in full at festivals and special concerts in the following years, including a return in 2014. A cult favorite, the group is a rare and sought-after attraction at festivals and select venues.
