Book Ruthie Foster

Ruthie Foster is a Grammy-winning Texas singer-songwriter who blends blues, gospel, folk, soul and jazz into a powerful, heartfelt sound. Raised in Gause, Texas, in a family of gospel singers, she was a choir soloist by 14 and later studied music and audio engineering in Waco while fronting a blues band in Texas bars. She sharpened her stagecraft singing with the U.S. Navy band Pride, then became a regular on New York's folk circuit, turning down a pop-oriented deal to follow her roots. Her catalog includes Full Circle (1997), Crossover (1999), Runaway Soul (2002), The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster (2007), Let It Burn (2012), Promise of a Brand New Day (2014), Joy Comes Back (2017), Healing Time (2022), Mileage (2024) and Just Say Yes (2026). Foster has earned six Grammy nominations, and in 2025 she won her first Grammy Award, for Best Contemporary Blues Album with Mileage. She is also a Blues Music Award winner. Drawing comparisons with Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt, Foster commands the stage with a soaring voice and warm spirit, delivering concerts that move effortlessly from joyful gospel fervor to intimate acoustic storytelling.
