Book Proclaimers
The Proclaimers are a Scottish rock duo made up of identical twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid, born in Leith and raised in Edinburgh, Cornwall and Auchtermuchty. After cutting their teeth in teenage punk bands, they formed the duo in 1983 and broke through with the 1987 single "Letter from America" from their debut album, This Is the Story. In 1988 came Sunshine on Leith, their biggest album, and "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," which hit number one in Australia, Iceland and New Zealand and became a worldwide singalong. Starting out as an acoustic act, the brothers gradually moved toward a fuller band sound, drawing on country, folk, punk and roots rock, all delivered in their unmistakable Scottish accents and tight sibling harmonies. Their run of studio albums continued with Hit the Highway (1994), Persevere (2001), Born Innocent (2003), Restless Soul (2005), Life With You (2007), Notes & Rhymes (2009), Like Comedy (2012), Let’s Hear It for the Dogs (2015), Angry Cyclist (2018), Dentures Out (2022) and You May Offend (2026). The Reids tour internationally, and their shows are rousing singalongs.
