Book Phil Coulter
Phil Coulter is a Derry-born composer, pianist and producer whose records rank with the biggest sellers ever on the island of Ireland. He began playing in bands while studying music and French at Queen's University Belfast and went on to write songs heard around the world, including "Puppet on a String" and "Congratulations," as well as the deeply personal "The Town I Loved So Well" about the city of his youth and "Scorn Not His Simplicity." He has collected five Ivor Novello Awards, Songwriter of the Year among them, two Eurovision Grand Prix wins, three ASCAP awards, a Meteor Award, a Grammy nomination and a 2009 Gold Badge honoring his songwriting, along with a honorary doctorate in 2018. As a pianist and recording artist he built a long run of instrumental albums, from Sea Of Tranquility (1984) and Irish Reflections (1986) to Words & Music (1991), Celtic Horizons (1996), Highland Cathedral (2000), Lake of Shadows (2001) and Heartland: The Composer's Salute To Celtic Thunder (2011).
