Book Pete Rock
Pete Rock is an American producer, DJ and rapper regarded as one of hip-hop's greatest producers and a mainstay of 1990s East Coast production, mentioned in the same breath as DJ Premier, RZA and Q-Tip. He rose in the early 1990s as half of Pete Rock & CL Smooth, and he was well known for his remix work. After the duo split in 1995 he kept producing and remixing for other artists, and he took a leading role in blending jazz into hip-hop. His credits include the landmark 1994 albums Illmatic and Ready to Die. As a solo artist, he has released Soul Survivor (1998), the instrumental series beginning with PeteStrumentals (2001), Soul Survivor II (2004), NY's Finest (2008), Monumental (2011), Don't Smoke Rock (2016), Return of the SP1200 (2019), Retropolitan (2019) and The Auditorium, Vol. 1 (2024). He has received two Grammy nominations. Pete Rock performs sample-rich, soulful beats as a producer-DJ with a deep crate-digging pedigree.
