Book N.E.R.D.
N.E.R.D. was the genre-blurring band of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, formed in Virginia Beach in 1994 as a side project of the hitmaking production duo the Neptunes. The name stands for No-one Ever Really Dies, and the group fused rock, hip-hop, funk and soul into a sound years ahead of its time. Their debut album In Search Of… (2001) won the Shortlist Music Prize in 2002 and earned a devoted following. N.E.R.D. followed with Fly or Die (2004), reunited for Seeing Sounds (2008) and released Nothing (2010). In 2017 they signed with Columbia Records and returned with the single "Lemon," featuring Rihanna, which became a top-40 Billboard Hot 100 hit and led into their fifth album, NO_ONE EVER REALLY DIES (2017). Pharrell and Hugo first met as 12-year-olds in a band class and came up alongside friends including Missy Elliott, Clipse and Timbaland. Known for explosive, mosh-ready concerts and fearless creativity, N.E.R.D. left a lasting mark as a touchstone for fans of alternative hip-hop and a showcase of Pharrell's restless artistry.
