Book Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco has won a Grammy and earned 12 nominations, taking Best Urban/Alternative Performance for "Daydreamin'," his collaboration with Jill Scott. The Chicago rapper, singer, producer and educator, born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, first reached a national audience with his verse on Kanye West's "Touch the Sky" in 2006. With help from Jay-Z he signed with Atlantic Records, and his debut, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor (2006), reached the Billboard 200 top ten and earned four Grammy nominations, led by the skateboard anthem "Kick, Push." Lupe Fiasco's The Cool (2007) followed with the hit "Superstar," and Lasers (2011), with "The Show Goes On," opened at the top of the Billboard 200. Tetsuo & Youth (2015) is a favorite among fans of lyrical rap, and Drill Music in Zion (2022), which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album, and Samurai (2024) continued his late-career run. He also founded the label 1st & 15th, fronts the rock band Japanese Cartoon, and has taught rap as a visiting scholar at MIT.
