Book Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox is the American actress, producer and LGBTQ advocate whose breakthrough on screen made history and opened doors across entertainment. She rose to fame as Sophia Burset on the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, a role that in 2014 made her the first openly transgender person nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in an acting category. That same year she received the GLAAD Stephen F. Kolzak Award for her advocacy. In 2015 she won a Daytime Emmy Award as executive producer of the documentary Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word, becoming the first trans woman to win in that category. She went on to star as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 2016 television remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and executive produced the acclaimed Netflix documentary Disclosure (2020), which examined how Hollywood has portrayed transgender people. Beyond acting, Cox has become a sought-after voice on red carpets, talk shows and the lecture circuit, speaking about authenticity, resilience and representation. She brings charisma, candor and a clear message of empowerment to every stage she takes.
