Book Judge Judy

Judy Sheindlin, known to millions as Judge Judy, is an American attorney, former family-court judge and a defining television personality of the past three decades. Her no-nonsense courtroom style first drew national notice through a 1993 Los Angeles Times profile and a segment on CBS's 60 Minutes, which led to her first book, Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining, in 1996. That same year she stepped down from the bench and launched Judge Judy, which ran for 25 seasons from 1996 to 2021 and earned her a place in Guinness World Records in 2015 as the longest-serving arbitrator in courtroom television. Sheindlin has collected twenty-six Daytime Emmy nominations with six wins, a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 2019 and her own Hollywood Walk of Fame star. In November 2021 she launched the streaming court series Judy Justice, which won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program in 2022, making her the only TV arbitrator to win that award for two different shows. In September 2026 she announced her retirement from on-screen television, closing with the Judy Justice finale in October 2026.
