Book Javiera Mena

Javiera Mena is a Chilean singer, songwriter, musician and producer, born in 1983 and based in Madrid, regarded as a pioneer of Latin American synth-pop. She began performing at 17, playing her first show in a classroom at the University of Chile, and emerged from the Chilean indie scene in 2001, initially writing spare acoustic songs on guitar. While studying composition and arranging at the ProJazz academy, she played underground parties and clubs, and demos she recorded in 2003 spread quickly online. In 2004 she made her international debut supporting Entre Ríos, the Argentine electropop group, in Buenos Aires, and she also worked in the electropop duo Prissa. Her first official release was "Sol de Invierno", a duet with Gepe, and her song "Cámara Lenta" appeared in Alberto Fuguet's film Se arrienda. Her debut album Esquemas Juveniles (2006), produced by Cristian Heyne, brought her wider recognition, and she has since released Mena (2010), Otra era (2014), Espejo (2018), Nocturna (2022) and Inmersión (2025), moving toward lush, synthesizer-driven dance pop. Onstage Mena delivers glittering, danceable electronic pop with heartfelt Spanish-language songwriting.
