Book Iman

Iman is a Somali-American supermodel, actress and philanthropist who became one of the defining faces of modern fashion. Discovered by photographer Peter Beard while she was an university student, she moved to the United States and landed her first assignment for Vogue in 1976, quickly appearing on the covers of the world's top magazines. In 1977 she helped front Revlon's first campaign centered on Black women, for its Polished Ambers collection. She became a muse to legendary designers including Gianni Versace, Thierry Mugler, Halston, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Issey Miyake and Yves Saint Laurent, who called her his dream woman, and she was photographed by masters such as Irving Penn, Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon and Helmut Newton. She has also acted on screen, including a memorable role in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991). Beyond the runway, Iman is known for her philanthropic work. She received the Great Immigrants Award in 2006 and was named to the OkayAfrica 100 Women list in 2017. Iman speaks with authority on fashion, beauty, entrepreneurship and representation, and carries the poise of a true icon.
