Book Giorgio Moroder
Giorgio Moroder is a composer and producer from Italy, nicknamed the Father of Disco for his part in building Euro disco and electronic dance music. Working out of Munich in the 1970s, he launched Oasis Records, which later became part of Casablanca Records, and founded Musicland Studios, where acts from the Rolling Stones to Queen recorded. He shaped the sound of Donna Summer through "Love to Love You Baby," "I Feel Love," "Last Dance," "Hot Stuff" and "Bad Girls," and his synthesizer work left a mark on hi-NRG, Italo disco, new wave, house, techno and synth-pop. His trophies include Academy Awards and Golden Globes for Best Original Song, a Golden Globe for Best Original Score, Grammy Awards for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, Best Instrumental Composition and Best Dance/Electronic Recording, two Bambi Awards and a David di Donatello Lifetime Achievement Award. Italy named him a Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2005. Moroder brings a dance-floor legacy few producers match.
