Book Eriq La Salle
Eriq La Salle is an American performer and filmmaker who acts, directs, writes and produces, and he is best known for playing surgeon Dr. Peter Benton on NBC's landmark medical drama ER, a role he held from 1994 to 2002 and revisited in 2009. That performance brought him three NAACP Image Awards, a Golden Globe nomination and three Primetime Emmy Award nominations. A graduate of NYU, he was cast straight out of school in Joseph Papp's Shakespeare in the Park staging of Henry V, then worked steadily on Broadway, off-Broadway and in daytime television, including a run as reporter Mike Rivers on One Life to Live. Film audiences remember him as Darryl Jenks in the Eddie Murphy comedy Coming to America (1988). Behind the camera, La Salle has built a substantial career as a television director, with credits on series such as Lucifer and Under the Dome, along with work as a writer and producer. He brings a rare double perspective on acting and directing, plus vivid memories of a celebrated television ensemble, to any audience he addresses.
