Book David Garrett
German violinist David Garrett moves between the classical and crossover worlds, and his career began as a child prodigy: at thirteen he became the youngest soloist ever to sign an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon. Born David Bongartz, he was given the use of a Stradivarius at eleven after playing for German president Richard von Weizsäcker, and by sixteen he had performed with the Munich Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta in Delhi and Mumbai. Engagements with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Expo 2000 in Hanover and the BBC Proms followed, and he later studied at the Juilliard School in New York. His crossover albums, beginning with Free and Virtuoso and continuing through Encore, Rock Symphonies, Legacy, Explosive, Rock Revolution, Alive, Iconic and Millennium Symphony, pair classical repertoire with rock songs and film themes performed alongside his band. Immortal arrived in 2026. He has won Echo Klassik and Echo Pop awards, the Frankfurter Musikpreis, the European Cultural Award and the Order of Merit of North Rhine-Westphalia. On screen he starred as Niccolò Paganini in the 2013 film The Devil's Violinist.
