Cut Copy is a synth-pop band from Melbourne, Australia, started in 2001 as a home-recording project by Dan Whitford, who sings and plays keyboards and guitar. The group now includes Tim Hoey on guitar, Ben Browning on bass and Mitchell Scott on drums. Their first release was the single "1981," and they have since made seven studio albums: Bright Like Neon Love in 2004, In Ghost Colours in 2008, Zonoscope in 2011, Free Your Mind in 2013, Haiku From Zero in 2017, Freeze, Melt in 2020 and Moments in 2025. They have earned a Grammy nomination. Cut Copy's sound mixes sparkling dance-rock, new wave and electronic textures, with warm, melodic vocals and lush grooves, and the band's concerts feature a live drummer and electronics that make for a joyous, danceable night.
