Book Cradle of Filth

Cradle of Filth is the extreme metal band from Suffolk, England that broke out of its underground roots to play main stages at Ozzfest, Download and the Sziget Festival. Founded in 1991 by singer Dani Filth, still its leader, the group began in black metal and evolved into a lavish blend of gothic and symphonic metal, with lyrics and imagery drawn from Gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. After a 1994 debut on Cacophonous Records, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, the band's 1996 album Dusk and Her Embrace became its critical breakthrough and spread its following across Europe and beyond. Cruelty and the Beast (1998), a concept album about Countess Elizabeth Báthory, and Midian (2000) built on that success, followed by Damnation and a Day, Nymphetamine, Thornography and Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder. The band has kept a steady pace across sixteen studio albums, including Hammer of the Witches, Cryptoriana: The Seductiveness of Decay and Existence Is Futile, and it signed with Napalm Records in 2022, releasing The Screaming of the Valkyries in 2025. Its current lineup brings together musicians from England and the Czech Republic around Dani Filth's unmistakable shriek.
