Book Carlos Vives
Carlos Vives is a Colombian singer, songwriter and actor from Santa Marta who modernized vallenato by blending its accordion tradition with rock, pop and Caribbean rhythms. After acting in Colombian television, including the series Escalona, he released Clásicos de la Provincia in 1993 and La Tierra del Olvido in 1995, introducing the world to the sound of Colombia's Caribbean coast. Later hits include "La Gota Fría," "Fruta Fresca," "Volví a Nacer," and "La Bicicleta," a duet with Shakira that won Latin Grammys for Record of the Year and Song of the Year in 2016. His album Más + Corazón Profundo won the Grammy for Best Tropical Latin Album. He was inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2020, and the Latin Recording Academy named him Person of the Year in 2024.
