Book Black Pumas
Black Pumas are an Austin, Texas, psychedelic soul band led by singer and songwriter Eric Burton and guitarist and producer Adrian Quesada. Burton sharpened his craft busking on the Santa Monica Pier before settling in Austin, while Quesada had already won a Grammy as a member of the Latin funk outfit Grupo Fantasma. Introduced by a mutual friend, the pair joined forces in 2018, and they shaped their sound in front of live crowds every week at the C-Boys Heart & Soul Bar in Austin. After signing with ATO Records, they released the singles "Black Moon Rising" and "Fire" and then their self-titled debut album, Black Pumas, in 2019. The group earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2020 and has gathered seven Grammy nominations in total. Their music blends vintage funk, R&B and retro soul grooves with modern production, and Burton's gospel-trained vocals give their shows a raw, joyful energy that turns a concert into a celebration.
