Book Black Moon
Black Moon is a Brooklyn underground hip-hop group that rappers Buckshot and 5ft started in 1992 with producer DJ Evil Dee. The name doubles as a backronym, with each letter standing for a word in a longer phrase. Their 1992 debut single "Who Got da Props" reached the Billboard Hot 100, and they became the first hip-hop act signed to Nervous Records. The landmark debut album Enta da Stage (1993) featured "How Many MC's...", "Buck Em Down" and the Hot 100 single "I Got Cha Opin (Remix)," with guest turns from Havoc of Mobb Deep and Smif-N-Wessun. The album's gritty sound came from Da Beatminerz, the production team formed by Evil Dee and his brother Mr. Walt. Black Moon is also a pillar of the Boot Camp Clik collective. Later releases include War Zone (1999), Total Eclipse (2003), Alter the Chemistry (2006) and Rise of Da Moon (2019). A cornerstone of 1990s East Coast boom-bap, Black Moon brings raw lyricism and classic New York beats to the stage.
