Book Bajofondo

Bajofondo is a Río de la Plata collective of eight musicians from Argentina and Uruguay that reimagines tango and the region's other traditions for the modern era. Led by Gustavo Santaolalla, the project started as a studio experiment in the early part of the 2000s and grew into the acclaimed album Bajofondo Tango Club (2002), which launched international touring and the current lineup. Often labeled electrotango, their music goes well beyond tango, weaving in milonga, murga and candombe alongside rock, hip-hop, jazz and electronic sampling. The name refers to the river that divides Argentina and Uruguay yet binds them together as one cultural region. The lineup features seven musicians plus a VJ who projects live digital imagery, turning each concert into a theatrical audiovisual experience, and every member also pursues a solo career. Bajofondo followed its debut with Mar Dulce (2007), Presente (2013), Aura (2019) and Ohm (2026), and has earned a Grammy nomination. The collective has toured across Latin America, the United States, Europe and Asia, and its music has reached even wider audiences through film and television. Bajofondo brings a stylish, pulsing and passionate show that feels both deeply rooted and thoroughly contemporary.
