Book Andy Torbet

Andy Torbet is a Scottish adventurer, filmmaker and television presenter who works as a professional cave diver, freediver, skydiver and climber, who turns extreme adventure into engaging storytelling. Raised in rural Aberdeenshire in the Scottish Highlands, where his father worked as a forester, he studied zoology at the University of Sheffield. He then spent ten years in the British Armed Forces jumping as a paratrooper, diving for the army and working in bomb disposal, experience that underpins his calm approach to risk. Moving into broadcasting, he became a familiar face on BBC programs including The One Show, Coast, Operation Iceberg, Operation Cloud Lab and Britain's Ancient Capital. For younger audiences he created and co-produced the CBBC series Beyond Bionic, in which he attempted feats inspired by the animal kingdom, and the show inspired its own video game. His book Extreme Adventures was published in 2015, and in April 2020 he became a host of the clean energy and technology program Fully Charged. As a speaker, Torbet draws on deep dives, high-altitude jumps and military service to explore resilience, preparation and pushing personal limits safely.
