Book Abney Park
Abney Park is a Seattle rock band famed as a flagship act of the steampunk subculture, blending rock, industrial and world music with theatrical costumes and sci-fi storytelling. Founder Robert Brown formed the group in 1997 and remains its lead singer, chief songwriter and artistic director; the band takes its name from London's Gothic Abney Park Cemetery, where Brown once lived and studied. Early albums Abney Park (1998), Return to the Fire (1999) and Cemetary Number 1 (2000) already explored clockwork and steam-powered imagery, and songs from From Dreams or Angels, including "The Change Cage," "Black Day" and "No Life," topped industrial and darkwave charts. In 2005 Brown recast the group from goth industrial to steampunk, creating fictional personas such as Captain Robert, and Lost Horizons (2008) was their first fully steampunk release. A prolific catalog of 29 studio albums followed, including Æther Shanties (2009), The End of Days (2010), Ancient World (2012), The Circus at the End of the World (2013), Wasteland (2015), Scallywag (2018), Technoshanties (2021), The Subaquatic Opera (2021) and Cataclysm (2025). Their shows are immersive, costumed adventures.
