Book Nancy Meyers
Nancy Meyers is an American writer, producer and director whose comedies have been major studio successes for four decades. After a year in public television in Philadelphia she moved to Los Angeles at 22, landing work as a production assistant on The Price Is Right and later as a story editor at Ray Stark's Rastar and in Motown's film division, while selling cheesecakes on the side. With Charles Shyer and Harvey Miller she wrote Private Benjamin, the 1980 Goldie Hawn hit that most studios had passed on; it earned the trio an Oscar nomination for original screenplay and a Writers Guild of America Award. Baby Boom followed, picking up a Golden Globe nomination for best musical or comedy, and she co-wrote Father of the Bride and its sequel. Meyers then wrote and directed The Parent Trap, What Women Want, Something's Gotta Give, The Holiday, It's Complicated and The Intern. She received the Dorothy Arzner Directors Award in 2007. Her daughter, Hallie Meyers-Shyer, is also a filmmaker.
