Book George Strait
George Strait owns 60 number-one songs across all charts, a total no other artist in any genre has reached, and 44 of them topped Billboard's Hot Country Songs. Writers call him the King of Country Music, and he led the neotraditional movement of the 1980s with a roots sound and a working-cowboy image at a time when Nashville favored pop crossover. The Texan spent the 1970s playing honky-tonks with his band Ace in the Hole while working ranch jobs by day. His major-label debut, Strait Country, came in 1981 and launched a catalog of 33 studio albums, including Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind, Ocean Front Property, Beyond the Blue Neon, Blue Clear Sky, Carrying Your Love with Me, Twang, Cold Beer Conversation, Honky Tonk Time Machine and Cowboys and Dreamers in 2024. Troubadour brought him the Grammy for Best Country Album in 2009, from 17 career nominations. He has received the National Medal of Arts and was named a Kennedy Center honoree in 2025.
