Book Ed Burns
Edward Burns is an American actor, writer and director whose self-financed debut, The Brothers McMullen, won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 1995 and the Independent Spirit Award for best first feature. Fresh out of college he worked as a production assistant on Oliver Stone's The Doors, then made McMullen in his spare time while working at Entertainment Tonight, shooting largely in his hometown of Valley Stream, New York. After an ET interview he got the film to Robert Redford, and Redford's support helped get it into Sundance. Burns followed with She's the One in 1996 and has since directed Sidewalks of New York and The Fitzgerald Family Christmas. As an actor he appeared in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan, sharing an ensemble nomination from the Screen Actors Guild, and in The Holiday, 27 Dresses, Man on a Ledge, Friends with Kids and Alex Cross. On TNT he played Bugsy Siegel in Mob City and created and starred in Public Morals, and he took part in History's Vietnam in HD.
