Book Dennis Miller
Dennis Miller is a stand-up comedian, talk host, writer and political commentator who anchored Weekend Update on NBC's Saturday Night Live from 1985 to 1991, a stint Vulture ranked as the best in the segment's history. He studied journalism at Point Park University and wrote humor-laced sports pieces for the South Hills Record until the paper cut its rates to a fraction of a penny. After a string of odd jobs, a Robin Williams HBO special in 1979 inspired him to try stand-up, and he began at Pittsburgh open-mic nights. After SNL he fronted talk programs for HBO and CNBC as well as in syndication, winning a Primetime Emmy for writing for a variety series. He hosted the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards. From 2007 to 2015 he hosted a three-hour daily radio show syndicated nationally by Westwood One, and in 2020 he launched the interview program Dennis Miller + One. Comedy Central placed him 21st on its 2004 list of top stand-ups, and he has received three Grammy nominations.
