Born in Atlanta and raised in Lagos, singer, songwriter and producer Davido has earned five Grammy nominations and a 2018 BET Award for Best International Act, which made him the first African artist to accept that honor on the main stage. Born David Adeleke, he studied business at Oakwood University before leaving to focus on music. His 2011 single "Dami Duro," from the debut album Omo Baba Olowo, made him a star, and the Headies named him Next Rated in 2012. Hits including "Gobe," "Skelewu" and "Aye" followed. In 2016 he signed with Sony Music and RCA Records and launched his own label, Davido Music Worldwide. His 2017 singles "If" and "Fall" broke through internationally, with "Fall" setting a Billboard longevity record for a Nigerian pop single. A Good Time (2019) and A Better Time (2020), the latter with Nicki Minaj, Nas, Chris Brown and Lil Baby, were followed by Timeless (2023), featuring "Unavailable," then 5ive (2025) and Oriadé (2026). He was named to the Time 100 Next list in 2021 and was featured on Billboard's "Africa Now" cover story in 2020.
