Book Akon
Akon brings five Grammy nominations and a run of chart history few singers can match. The Senegalese-American singer, songwriter and producer broke through in 2004 with "Locked Up," the lead single from his debut album Trouble, and followed it with "Lonely." His second album, Konvicted (2006), climbed to number two on the Billboard 200 and earned a nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album, while "Smack That" with Eminem and "I Wanna Love You" with Snoop Dogg were both nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. Those two singles held the Hot 100's first and second places simultaneously, and he repeated the feat a year later with "Don't Matter" and his feature on Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape," making him the first solo act to hold both top spots twice. Freedom (2008) added the top-ten hit "Right Now (Na Na Na)." In 2019 he branched into reggaeton on El Negreeto and Afrobeats on Akonda. Off the mic he built the labels Konvict Muzik and KonLive Distribution and launched the solar power initiative Akon Lighting Africa.
